A 15 yo son who lies and steals...

Parents Support One Another @ MyOutOfControlTeen.com/support = I need help with the following issue:

A 15 yo son who lies and steals. 3 years ago he stole a signicant amount of mom's jewelry and gave it to some girl. Her parents were no help in retrieving it. He steals money... more recently a parents ipod and sold it to a friend, that was retrieved. He lies about any and everything. Conversations ranging from he controls himself, no one controls him, not even his parent and that he has to deal with the consequences of his choices.... consequences of taking things away, extra chores, talks with law enforcement...the "cat and mouse" mind games are exhausting..

Do you think that kids are being over diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, or just a plan ole behavior problem.?

I was wondering if any of you parents out there feel like they (teachers and doctors) are over diagnosing kids with ADD, ADHD, or behavior problems. Do you think sometimes kids are just that "kids" and some are more well behaved than others. Some listen better than others and some concentrate better than others. I am talking all ages, from preshoolers to high schoolers. What is your take on it!

Any advise on how to cope with two emotional females under one roof?

Parents Support One Another @ MyOutOfControlTeen.com/support = I need help with the following issue:

Our daughter, 17 years old is quite gifted academically, however, quite used to "getting her way" by wearing down her mother in a variety of combative and verbally abusive methods. Simple grounding may be difficult with her current academic load and needing access to her car to commute to high school and community college. One method I would choose would be denial of c-phone privelage and limited "time together" with her boyfriend. She will no doubt be a terror at home during this period. Any advise on how to cope with two emotional females under one roof?

Son is completely ODD...

Parents Support One Another @ MyOutOfControlTeen.com/support = I need help with the following issue:

Our son, D., is completely ODD. He is smoking, and refuses to quit. HE is 15. He goes ballistic when we take away his stuff. The Dr. says he should go into residential and we are looking into that. He is coming home right now from in-patient and I dread the moment he steps foot over the threshold.

Son is using marijuana daily...

Parents Support One Another @ MyOutOfControlTeen.com/support = I need help with the following issue:

Our 16 year old son is using marijuana daily at lunch hour. How can we help him to stop? All his friends use/abuse. Do we just keep him safe and secure at home until 18, then ask him to leave if he is still using?
