Our 16 yr old daughter was recently caught with smoking pot in her room when we were home, with a freind who we didn't know from her school, (new freind from nowhere) she has been sneaking smoking cigerettes for a few years. lying, back talking, ignoring our rules, but is pleasent and quiet otherwise. We have to work tomorrow and asked her to respect our rules not to leave and do chores while we are gone. hmmm should we trust that she will?

I think MArk suggests that you not trust until you can verify.
I would have to say that you would be very naive to trust your daughter at this point.
