He occasionally indulges in physical violence...

Parents Support One Another @ MyOutOfControlTeen.com/support = I need help with the following issue:

My 16 yr old son does not listen to us and does not respect our authority. He occasionally indulges in physical violence. His grades have started seriously falling in Yr 11 and he has lost interest in studies. He is currently gone to India on a overseas visit to his maternal grandfather. We have given him the option of studying in a International school affiliated to Cambridge UK (better than current school) and staying in hostel in India.

Hi, am sorry to hear you are going through this.My sons are now 26 and 27, girl i have been there..always remember no one ever screws you over ( unless you let them ) remember, once shame on them twice shame on YOU. dont permit it period..if he wants a taste of how easy he has it then let him go to the streets, bet he wont be there long ,but will sure learn alot and not all good ..when my youngest cussed at me and called me names he was about 16,it only took once i was in shock and let me tell you right now i went with salvation army cloths so he could have his airwalks and fancy cloths and when he disrespected me like that he was out of my house, anyway i mean i wouldent let a stranger talk to me like that you think my own son can...(that was the hardest thing i have ever done in my entire life ( the hardest ) but like a man who hits you ( IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN ) My point being if you allow it, it will happen again.....How much do you respect yourself..............

I remember being that disrespectful teen. I was so horrible! Looks like your baby needs some tough love. He might feel like he is a grown man and he doesn't have to listen to you. He needs to understand that he ain't all that without his momma. Don't give him anything. Money, clothes or whatever. Make him have to provide for himself as much as possible. Teens are moody at no fault of their own, but when they are unappreciative, you have to giv'em a kick in the A** to make them see the light. Believe me, It was exactly what I needed. Now, my mom doesn't have to ask for anything. I make sure she is taken care of.

Take him to the boot camp. I hear there are some really good boot camps out there that can help violent, misbehaving teenagers turn their lives around. But in some cases,it doesn't always work.

Call the law, this is no way for anyone to act let alone your son that should have some respect for you. Get him out of the house before it gets worse.

take him to the police station and get the community officer to speak with him it worked with my son when he punched me.

you shouldn't have to put up with this type of treatment, especially from your son. if i were you, my course of action would be either military or boot camp or jail. those would be his only choices. the next time he does it, call the cops. you never know, he may just learn some respect from his time in jail. good luck.
