Etiquette is hard to teach some people; however you can be direct without being rude. Even if someone says you are being rude, you are the ultimate judge. You can simply say: While I am glad to see you, I would appreciate it if you would work diligently to find another place to live... is there anything I can do to help you find another place to live.

Your friend may have a fit and say that you are being rude; however they in fact are the ones that need to take action. Be direct. If you do not directly address the situation you are not being fair to your friend or yourself.

i agree with the other post. and while your friend is there, there is nothing wrong with stepping in at bed time and being firm letting the children know that it is not acceptable as they are in your home. tell your friend that she needs to sort something out as you are getting complaints.
