Caught downloading porno...

I caught my 16 year old son downloading porno from the net?

My wife flipped out.

I told her wtf, its just porn and he's 16 -- they are consenting adults in the pictures and its just sex, maybe he could learn something. So I showed him the sites I go to.

How bad is it -- its not like the kid is 12.

What do you think?

over acting mother huh, it was going to happen sooner or later right, but showing your sites - wow, let me know how that goes for you.

Considering you have to be 18 to view porn on the net it's not a very good idea to encourage him !!

Chief, I think you have flipped your Wiggum.

You showed him the sites you go to! If he wants to do it then you can't stop him, but your encouraging him? I find that wrong. And gross.

OMG that is not very good parenting you should enourage him to wait and find out himself when he's a little older but HOW AWKWARD that must have been for him! His father showing him Porn sites. YIKES! Bad move.

I hate saying this, but it's real bad.

I was a porn addict from the age 19 through 28. It ruined my 20's.

Still today 4 years from not using it, it haunts me.

It objectifies women, changes your perceptions about sex. By no means is it harmless fun. I actaully "shook" physically while withdrawing. If you research it, it's compared to heroine withdrawls.

Just research sex addiction. It's amazingly harmful. I got into porn just like everybody else. I took a peek, then a look. Then it grew and grew. Next thing I knew it consumed hours of my day. Led to masturbation to it, then I needed more and more.

It got more extreme and led to more extreme pornography.

It's a deadly problem in my opinion. Society is going to see some massive problems soon from it.

He is going to find it somewhere. I just hope your computer doesn't get a worm from going into those sights.
Also be thankful if he is looking at women and not men!

I agree with most of these comments, him looking is no big deal, but you showing him where you go is a bit sketchy. Although maybe the embarrassment of that talk will make him stop for a while, haha.

Sixteen yearolds have sex, so I can't imagine looking is harming him in some way. Just make sure you have the safe sex talk with him. That's more important than the porn conversation.

I think you need to remember that your wife lives in the household, too, and if this makes her uncomfortable, well, then, maybe you should have the courtesy to abstain.

And from what I've seen, there is a lot of warped, perverted stuff on the internet, not "just sex." It could give a 16 y.o. boy the wrong idea about what women "like" and not serve him well for future happy relationships.
