Daughter's boyfriend moves in...

Do you know anyone that let their daughter's boyfriend move in? My 18-year-old friend's parents let her boyfriend move in. My friend is a high school dropout. My friend and her mother are Conservative Born-Again Christians so I don't get it.

I normally wouldn't care but my friend makes negative remarks about her older half-sister being a single mom.

She and her boyfriend share a room.

My aunt let her daughter's boyfriend move in because his parents kicked him out when they found out that he got my cousin pregnant. They were both 17. He slept in a different room. They had being going out forever( like 6 years) so my aunt and uncle let him move in so he would be safe but also be a part of the baby(now 1 named Derek). They are planning to get married in 2008

My parents let my boyfriend (who is now my husband) move in when we were 19. We met in college and transferred to a school near my house and he could not afford to live in a dorm. My parents are Catholic, so we had separate bedrooms. We were allowed to finally share a room when we graduated from college.

My dad! I'm 21 now but at the time I was 19. Fresh out of high school. I had been living with him for about 2 years prior to this. Me and my boyfriend moved together at the age of 17 still in school, we actually lived at his dad's house first but his brother lived there and was heavily into drugs so we had to get out of there. So my dad said we could live with him and did for about a year and a half.

No but my fiances mom let her 18 year old son's girlfriend move in temporarily when her parents kicked her out. They have their own apartment now though. My parents wouldnt let my fiance move in even now (if I had to live with them that is) even though we are engaged and have a child. They're not religious but thats just how they are. They've always said if I ever needed a place to stay, my daughter and I could move in, but my fiance would have to stay with his mom. They're ok with overnighters, but moving in is different.

I do. I know an 18 year old girl that lives at home with her parents, goes to college and works part time, and has allowed her boyfriend to move into her parent's house with her parents approval. I think it all boiled down to choosing between losing their daughter or gaining a "son - in - law", so to speak... even though they are not married and apparently have no plans for marriage at this time. They sleep in the same room although for appearances sake the boyfriend maintains a different room than the daughter's. Both nice kids, but when I see this i have to wonder how times have changed. In the past, a MARRIED son or daughter (and their spouse) might stay with one of the couple's parents in order to save money for their own place, but with this new "shacking up" arrangement there is no commitment of marriage and it seems a bit odd to me, especially since the boyfriend is paying no rent. Talk about a smooth operator, free rent and the daughter, too.... and can move on whenever it suits him. At least that's the way it seems to me, but maybe I'm wrong. Any comments?
